More Blogger Spellchecker

Am I being obtuse, or is it normal to expect google to populate their blogger spell checker default dictionary with "google" and "gmail" as valid words ... not to mention "blogger".

Internet 2.0

Google seems to be going there ... and fast.
While messing about "configuring" my google homepage and checking my gmail, I noticed that there were a few more things available.

So a word processor which is available from any browser .. and then a spreadsheet no less.
I had a wee play, and then I uploaded a couple of reasonably strenuous examples of each.
... and they both seemed to be OK & worked as far as I needed to extract information on the go.
So, although the local version of the spreadsheet (MS or OpenOffice) is quicker to navigate, the ability to have the whole thing available *anywhere* is quite phenomenonal!

Another Blogging casualty.

Inigo Wilson wrote a Lefty Lexicon blog post, which is actually pretty damn good.
Unfortunately his employer was not amused by one of the definitions:
"Islamophobic - anyone who objects to having their transport blown up on the way to work."
... and so he has been suspended.
So now it seems that "the man" wants to control our out-of-work thoughts and actions as well!
It does make another of his entries kinda apposite:
Intolerance - Intolerance can only committed against certain defined groups of people. These do not include, Americans, the middle class, white manual workers, rural people, business and Christians obviously.

It *is* Rocket Science!

So when things go horribly wrong, I understand they refer to it as an "uncontrolled engine self-disassembly".
And the autopsy looks like it's going to say "shit happens".

Kereru Discovery

Sad really.
kereru2.jpgA sight like this in suburbia can really bring you to a halt, (or in my case last spring, grab the camera).

And here's a really good idea, the Kereru Discovery Project, which aims to encourage behaviours (garden plantings etc) which will support the kereru and consequently other wildlife. It's got the backing of Te Papa, Wellington Zoo, Karori Wildlife, Mt Bruce & Victoria University.
On the home page the encouraging statement "The first thing to do is register for the programme." directs you to their registration page ...
... but oh dear ...

When it rains ...

... the Courtenay Place footpath is very slippery,
and the buses smell like gym changing rooms.
