Kereru Discovery  

Sad really.
kereru2.jpgA sight like this in suburbia can really bring you to a halt, (or in my case last spring, grab the camera).

And here's a really good idea, the Kereru Discovery Project, which aims to encourage behaviours (garden plantings etc) which will support the kereru and consequently other wildlife. It's got the backing of Te Papa, Wellington Zoo, Karori Wildlife, Mt Bruce & Victoria University.
On the home page the encouraging statement "The first thing to do is register for the programme." directs you to their registration page ...
... but oh dear ...
