I was
not the only one who was keen to see that the Miramar Cinema should be brought back to life.
It has been an vaccuum in the middle of the suburb for way too long.
Work has finally begun, and everyone was expecting a renovation or restoration job on the 1920s building ... but judging by what's been removed, I would ask ... "to what value of restore?".
It looks like there is going to be a brand-new building with a facade, not what I would have defined as renovation.
There is perhaps some irony in the fact that it is a movie industry figure who is doing the restoration, and we all know that facades are a movie set cliche.
